Smart is Sexy.

Welcome to the X-Files College of Humanities and Literature!

Where the chessboard is the you and the pieces are your mind.

Welcome! This is the college of Thought and Book. I'm putting it simply as that because I am an avid reader and I love to read thought. If you've jumped here, you're interested in obtaining a degree.

Congratulations! You're half way there!

I am Isobel Mohammad Knish, otherwise known as Isobel Urgel. I am dean of the College of X-Files Humanities and Literature.

For now, I am heading this department. I am looking for those who find a Relation to the Humanities and Literature to with Specific Themes in particular episodes, an understanding of character gender role switching, the usage of folklore in particular episodes, Mulder and Scully's belief logic, usage of avid symbolism in the X-Files.

I'm friendly too. Don't be afraid. I welcome all conversation and deep hearted thought.

My qualifications lie as this:

I am a private tutor as well as one who works for the college I attend. I tutor all English subjects, both ESL and Comp classes. I also tutor all Humanities classes and what I don't know I try my best to learn. Aun Aprendo! Currently, I am working towards my degree in Comparative Literature with a focus on the compare and contrast of the Victorian Era and the Contemporary Era.

What I know about the X-Files: Well, basically, I have been watching since the first episode. I was intrigued by the pilot and have been watching ever since. Sometimes I lurk on newsgroups reading and engulfing what people have to say. I have this need to connect with people who feel as strongly about this show as I do. Sometimes my dedication is Spooky, and yes, it does interfere with my normal day activities, but what can I say, it's become a mental lifestyle that I am comfortable with.

Do you feel safe on my judgment yet?

Don't worry. As the XFU guidelines state, I'm not here to judge on others opinions, I'm here to seek others that share an interest with an intensity that equals my own.

BUT... I do have some guidelines. I'm anal retentive and if you apply for a degree here, Please follow them.

Guidelines for receiving a degree from this particular college:

1.) This paper must be about 10k or more in length. Well, I won't shoot you if it's smaller than that. But I'd like it if it was. Basically that's around 2000+ words. That's a pretty good amount, but it'll be worth it. I like to read and I like to know what you think.

(1.a) The thesis must be clear as well as clarified in the title. I expect fluidity as well as clarity. Basic paper guidelines, thesis/intro, body, conclusion, resources. That's the one thing I'll be a stickler of as well as the next guideline.

2.) All papers must be properly MLA or APA documented. That's right folks. Sorry. I love this stuff. And I know it's a bore, but I want to read what you're reading. I want to know where you got it and how you came up to this. And yes, I will check all sources. It's not matter of wanting to be a jerk and killing you if your sources are false or blaming you for plagerism, but I want to know where these thoughts came from. What episodes or what books influenced you dearly. Remember, this degree is not limited to just X-Files sources, dig deep. Live vicariously through a book or literary journal. Go fish in the microfiche pond. Dive into the Dewey Decimal system (now outdated, but I've always wanted to say that). Run barefooted through the animated magazine pages of the world wide web. You've got a plethora of information right at your fingertips. Make Dean Isobel a happy camper. And if you hate MLA or APA documentation, then email me, I hate it as well, but it's a universal language that can communicate what you read, and I want to know what you found or already know. Enlighten me, I learn something new every day.

3.) All thesis suggestions must be approved by either a department head or myself. For now, until Amy and I clear up what a Dean does, that department head is myself.

4.) Regardless of who your department head is, you must send a copy of your thesis to my email address. Well, okay, I'm curious. I just like to read anything that has to do with the X-Files.

5.) We will discuss your paper via email, Mplayer, IRC, ICQ, or AOL IM . If you need to contact me these are my handles: Mplayer= KungFooScully, IRC= ViSiGoTh or MangoChild or AvoidingRice, ICQ= 6410879 or MangoChild, AOL IM= SespinaU. All of these programs are free (always a nice price) through your ISP and wonderfully delicious. If you need any help at all with these, email me.

6.) I do not have the right to tell you what to write, but to assist you in your grammar and intellectual journey. This is what I tell all my "Tuttees." Enchant me. Enlighten me. Make me whoosh with happiness and cheer with laughter. This incorporates my two worlds of abandonment, literature and X-Files. I get shiny from being a TA and grading papers, so you can imagine what I feel when I read papers and it's about the X-files.

That's about it.

I hope you enjoyed our little chat.

One sided as it is, well for now that's the best you can do :)

Now, let's get back to class!

You have attended class, read the guidelines, and mused over the syllabus times

Wow! How did you get all the way down here?

I hear the angels singing!

Aun Aprendo! You've learned well, my curious friend. Scrolled down just to see what's down here? I like you already. I am in need of Department Heads as well as some TA for each department head. Email me at:
